Looking for something to make for a new baby or something to sew and sell? Why not try Baby Pacifier Holders.
These are SO SIMPLE and make a great baby shower gift, new baby gift, baby stocking stuffer and more. Bonus points that this project is a great way to use your fabric scraps.
Supplies:
- 12″ x 4″ piece of Fabric
- 11″ x 1″ piece of interfacing or lightweight fusible fleece (optional)
- 4″ of 1/4″ or 3/8″ flat elastic
- 1″/33 mm Pacifier Clips (also called “Suspender Clips” or “Mitten Clips”)
- Pacifiers with handles
This tutorial uses two of the Compass Star prints (C12082-BLUE & C12082-NAVY) from my Winter Barn Quilts fabric collection from Riley Blake Designs. Ask for them where you love to buy fabric.
Preparing the Fabric
CUT the fabric, interfacing and elastic. Choose your interfacing or lightweight fusible fleece depending on how flexible you want the holder to be. You can also make it without any interfacing, it’s all personal preference.
PLACE your fabric face down on the ironing board and PRESS both short ends over 1/4″.
PRESS in half the long way and open back up. (fig. 1)
PLACE the interfacing along the center fold and tuck it under the folded edges. (fig. 2)
FOLD the long raw edges in towards center fold and PRESS. (fig. 3)
FOLD in half and PRESS. (fig. 4)
Sewing the Pacifier Clip
FOLD the elastic in half and place it inside the folded fabric on one short end. (fig. 5) SEW across the edge 2-3 times to reinforce the elastic.
SEW all the way around the fabric strip approximately 1/8″ from the sides and then sew down the center. (fig. 6)
PLACE the fabric through the clip and folder over 1″. (fig. 7)
SEW in place. (fig. 8)
THREAD the elastic through the pacifier and then the fabric through the elastic to attach it to the pacifier. (fig. 9)
It’s that easy! Make them to coordinate with outfits, for all the holidays or just to get that scrap fabric stash a little bit lower.
If you make this or anything else with my fabric and post it online – tag me so I can see it! I love to see what people create.
